Until we meet again... Google
2020 is definitely a year full of changes. After almost 10 years of amazing experiences @ Google, I have made the tough family-first decision to move out of the bay area and thus leaving Google.
Here are 5 quick things I learned through my experiences @ Google in no particular order:
- The best way to learn truly is to take calculated risks and fail. I have numerous examples of failures that have helped me grow more than times when it is smooth sailing.
- People truly are incredible with great intentions to help each other to succeed. Spend the time to build a trusted relationship; not only for yourself but for your team.
- Culture is something that has to be set and modeled at the top; however, the culture requires everyone on the team to cultivate and preserve.
- Transparency is extremely important to earn and maintain trust. People are very smart so any attempts to be opaque, even with the best intention, can compromise that trust.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion cannot merely be acknowledged and understood; it is the responsibility of everyone to actively contribute and lend a voice to those that might not have a voice.
Why only 5? Well, I realized that I haven't published nano tips in a while, and so in the spirit of nano tips, I'll keep it brief for now. :)
So where did you go? Our family has decided to move to the PNW to provide a more balanced opportunity for our kids to grow up.
So what's next for your career? Stay tuned... :)

I decided to start publishing nano tips so others can learn and encourage each other as an experiment. These are personal observations and lessons learnt. If this seems interesting to you, leave a feedback so I know whether or not to continue.
Heh.. you finally get a "mountain view" :)
All the best Peter, will miss you!
All the best Peter for your next adventure .
