Understanding Cloud Computing.

What is Cloud Computing?

In today's world we often heard this word called Cloud Computing. In Fact most of us are using it everyday knowingly or unknowingly. But how many of us really understand exactly what it is.

So this article is definitely gonna help you understand it in simple terms.

Lets Understand this with a small story→

Let's go back to the 16th Century, when Industrialization was at boom and everyone was trying to set up their own Factories. To run those factories people used to set up their specific machines and other equipment based on the kind of business they wanted to do. But among all these different setups, one setup was common and that was setting your own Power grid to generate electricity. Yes, you heard it right. It was a Power Plant that all the factories needed to run their businesses. These power plants were usually set up in the basement of the buildings. This was a very common process at that time and almost everyone was following it.

But suddenly everything changed when “Edison Salt” the first Electricity Provider Company came into the market and started providing electricity to everyone without worrying about the maintenance of the grid with a very nominal fee. You don't have to hire extra men to maintain your power grid and you can concentrate more on your actual business. After so many years this idea has evolved so much that in today's world no one thinks about setting up their own Power grid, if you want to establish or open your own company.

Likewise, in case of databases, servers and other networking tools. Earlier people had to set up databases, servers and other tools inside their premises and hire extra manpower to maintain it. But this concept started changing when few companies started setting these Databases, servers and other networking tools at a remote location and started providing access to the user at a very low fee. Providing database and server access becomes their primary business. So, the Medium by which we are able to access those databases, servers and other networking tools is cloud. Or in more simpler terms, cloud is nothing else but a synonym for internet and the whole setup of databases, servers and networking tools are together known as cloud computing.

Currently we are at the very initial stage of Cloud Computing, but may be after another 30-40 years or so, setting up your own databases and servers will be discarded the way setting up your own power plant just to get the electricity.

It's really informative .
