This meticulous process is carried out by the Logistics Coordinator in consultation with the Turnaround Manager, ensuring the Overlay's accuracy and feasibility.

Scope Definition: The Overlay and Plot Plan help precisely define the scope of the Turnaround by identifying the specific equipment, systems, and areas involved in maintenance activities.

Plant Layout: A scaled layout of the plant, showing the arrangement of major equipment, process units, pipelines, and other infrastructure.

Equipment Identification: Clear identification of each major equipment item, including tag numbers and names.

Work Areas: Highlighting specific work areas where maintenance activities will be carried out, such as process units, storage tanks, and utility areas. Define parking areas for cranes and heavy machinery to optimize equipment deployment. Clearly identify areas of non-load-bearing surfaces where the parking of cranes or heavy equipment is prohibited, preventing potential accidents.

Boundary and Safety Zones: Marking of safety zones and boundaries to indicate restricted areas during the turnaround. Clearly mark any zones or roads where access is restricted, ensuring the safety and security of personnel. Define designated routes for vehicles, including one-way systems, to optimize traffic flow within the plant.

Temporary Facilities: Identification of temporary facilities that may be set up during the turnaround, such as work tents, material storage areas, and offices. Designate areas for Turnaround stores and quarantine compounds to facilitate efficient material handling.

Hazardous Substances Areas: Marking locations for hazardous substances, such as catalysts, chemicals, paint, oil, and fuel, to ensure safe handling and storage.

Foul and Clean Laydown Areas: Identifying areas for contaminated and new/overhauled items separately to prevent cross-contamination.

Washing and Cleaning Bays: Defining locations for water washing and chemical cleaning bays, considering water supply, drainage, and access.

Marshalling and Parking Areas: Designating spaces for scaffolding, insulation contractors, welding rectifiers, air compressors, generators, and fuel tenders.

Accommodation and Facilities: Marking areas for accommodation, mess rooms, changing rooms, and toilet facilities for the convenience of personnel.

Temporary Utility Routes: Outlining temporary routes for cabling and piping to ensure the smooth supply of utilities.

The Role of the Logistics Coordinator:

The Logistics Coordinator plays a pivotal role in creating the Plot Plan. Working in close collaboration with the Turnaround Manager, this coordinator accurately marks and codes the function of every element added to the basic map. These elements encompass a wide range of critical areas and features that are pertinent to the successful execution of the Turnaround.


Validating and Issuing the Plot Plan:

Throughout the creation of the Plot Plan, the Logistics Coordinator closely collaborates with the Turnaround Manager to ensure its feasibility. Once completed, the Plot Plan is formally submitted for discussion, approval, and action to the Turnaround Manager. It is subsequently shared with key personnel, including plant managers, safety officers, and contractor managers, among others.


Prominent Display and Briefing:

The Overlay or Plot Plan is displayed prominently at key locations within the Turnaround control Center and offices. All key personnel are responsible for studying the plan, familiarizing themselves with its features, and ensuring that their staff is well-informed about its contents. This briefing and display process are crucial, as adherence to the requirements, restrictions, and prohibitions outlined in the Plot Plan is imperative for safety, efficiency, and successful turnaround execution.
