Tips for Marketers

The top five activities or functions of an excellent Marketer are as follows: 

  1. Balance Demands! The Marketer must own the calendar, not vice versa. Time-block. Determine when to review emails. Do the important before the urgent.
  2. Engage with the customer! Phone calls with customers that are scheduled, for which an agenda was sent ahead of time, during which notes are taken, and after which those notes are shared via email.
  3. Focused Message! The Marketer must have top of mind the one key message that he/she wants to communicate on the call. Practice stating that message until it has force to it, attraction and actionable steps tied to it.
  4. Urgency! There must be a passion-driven urgency to the Marketer’s day. If the schedule looks empty, fill it with calls. Move smartly from one task to the next. The Marketer’s energy is key to success. Energy comes across as impactful, motivating and is contagious.
  5. Follow-Up! Whatever the Marketer promises to do must be done – promptly, accurately and courteously. 

The outcomes of Marketing success are always driven by sharing the right message with the right customers using the right process.
