Time
I have a hard truth to tell you.
The future doesn't exist.
It's a concept created by humans to make us feel like we have any control over what happens to us.
Wanna another hard truth?
The present is ephemeral.
It lasts only for a moment, and it keeps morphing into the next present.
You can't catch the present.
It's like when you are on a train and you see a tree far away. You keep watching it for a long time. It's in your future. Then, when you finally reach it, it passes so fast you can barely see it.
That's you present.
Then you can see it perfectly again, for a long time. It's in your past now.
The past is the only real time. Everything that ever happened accumulates in the past.
All facts happened in the past. All news and achievements. All the music you've ever listened was recorded in the past. All movies. All pictures. All memories. All scientific discoveries, all inventions.
So instead on focusing our efforts in creating a better future,
Instead of spending our energy trying to guess what's going to happen,
What if we focused all our actions, everything we do, in creating the best possible past?
Taking actions that people will say "this person is awesome, they did this amazing thing".
Making the most of every split second, there is the present, to build a past that we are proud of.
Building a career to inspire. Creating our legacy.
Because the best present we can leave is a great past.
