Testers…Stop Testing!

Testers…Stop Testing!

I have been working in software testing industry for nearly 7 years and have seen many testers constantly buried under CHECKING the code produced by developers and finding themselves out of time to take a step back and think about the QUALITY. This approach to testing in teams or companies working in agile have negative impacts on the delivery because quality is considered a specific domain’s responsibility instead of the whole team’s.

There are several articles, guideline, talks, and courses out there which talks about changing our approach to testing by changing team (including management) mindset about the overall responsibility of quality and how to ensure that quality is everyone’s responsibility. So with the Testers…Stop Testing! I tried to put an abstract and to the point guide or checklist to enable tester of any level to be the force to drive the change.

To help testers become EVANGELISTS for QUALITY and to enable them bake in quality earlier in the process instead of being considered as a last line of defence. I’ve put together an info-graphic to be used as a check list or guideline by the whole agile team with testers in the driving seat to drive the change constantly until it becomes the second nature of the whole team.

This is in no way a full guide but is enough to get your team started to own the quality and to see significant improvements if implemented correctly. There is something for everyone from senior management to developer, BAs and of course for testers in this guide.

Hope you enjoyed reading this and potentially found it useful. Please let me know your thought or share you experience around this area.

Thanks Dominic Finn for the article title inspiration and Zan Kavtaskin for pushing me to produce this guideline.
