Tech predictions for apps in 2016 #tech2016
Its been 7 glorious years since we downloaded our first app on a innovative tech called a touch smartphone.
My younger son is only a year and a half but manages his control over the Youtube Kids app like a pro. I can't imagine how one day he would grow up and refuse to accept the fact that world once existed without apps. Today, neither can we.
We have to come to terms with the fact that we can't survive without apps. Not only apps, i can't seem to survive without my amazon echo !
Thanks to tech, all the star trek gadgets seem to have come to life !
We have certainly evolved and learnt from our app expeditions over the last 7 years to make the world of apps better and stronger. Some people find it interesting to control home appliances with their phones, others get a smile on the face when google prompts them for their flight status.
We seem to be finding a comfortable way to touch glass surfaces with an expectation to see if they are interactive !
Everyone around me has apps and talk about different apps to suit their lifestyles. Apps make everything easy for us. I remember good old days using mapquest.com to get and print directions to my friend's house before i leave. Now i don't have to worry about directions, dates, appointments, music, emails - even my groceries.
With so much achieved in such little time, i believe we are on the verge of creating something outstanding in the next three years. 2014-15 has seen the transition from a 3 dimensional look to a more cleaner and minimalistic interface. We also made advances towards stability and app sizing.
2016 is going to see
- The biggest rush and fight to make it to the top rank on app stores.
- Most analytics and Mobile Marketing companies are going to boom in the next coming 3 years.
- Content Marketing platforms to push apps on Social Media platform.
- We are going to see a lot of players retiring after a long survival struggle on the app stores.
- New innovative App ideas vs more apps in the existing space. (i really don't want to see another uber clone in the app store)
- IOT apps
- Healthcare is going to be extremely HOT and hungry for funding.
- Delivery apps on the high for the first two quarters and then showing a decline in Q4.
- Biggest decline in Social Media apps in Q3
Essentially if you are a startup with the primary goal to get thousands of installs without really bringing value to the users, you are going to see a drastic decline and would have to seriously think about alternative measures for survival.
My prediction is essentially focussed towards the fact that a user today is no longer a "Naive" smartphone user but a much aware user trying to leverage the right tech for himself.
I actively mentor and engage with startups. @91springboard
