Synesthesia
Understanding a condition is totally liberating. You go from a state of confusion to a more rational thought process. It might not change anything but it changes the way you feel about yourself.
I have always dreamed constantly, and not just little snippets but fully detailed IMAX level visions. Many dreams were voyages of discovery, or quests through the wilderness. I even dreamed about technology and chasing new ideas. You may think it gives you a big advantage, but it is also a double edged sword. You get to be really good at your job, but you suffer from sleep deprivation. It feels like you can never turn off your brain.
For five years I had chronic insomnia - to even sleep I needed to be exhausted or intensely focused on some distraction. It was life changing when I learned meditation. I learned I have more control over my thought patterns than I thought. Even now when I sleep I meditate to walk my brain to a room full of sleep.
For my job I discovered I had data super powers. I could see data in shape, color and texture. I could visualize data in motion. The hard thing was sharing that vision. No language exists for any of those super powers.
