Supernatural

The word supernatural is used for things that some people believe are real, but that are not part of nature, or not explainable by science. Supernatural by definition means "attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature". If we break the word down though, it helps to understand the misunderstood. Natural means "existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind" While Super means "of the highest degree, power, etc.". Examples of something supernatural are extreme coincidences, magic, miracles, ghosts. UFO's etc. So natural to highest degree is supernatural. The human body has been studied for thousands of years. While we have most of the answers, we certainly cannot explain everything about how the body operates. Take the well documented feats of strength that occur in times of crisis like someone lifting up a car off of a trapped person underneath. The human brain has considerable function which is not understood. It is capable of incredible feats, creativity, innovation and memory yet we do not know how or what is behind a lot of these functions, but we do know they exist. This is natural to the highest degree. It is supernatural. We generally only think in terms of Hollywood movie versions of the supernatural, but the human mind is our universe. We have come up with a theoretical number associated with how much of our brain we actually use which is 10%. If this is true that leaves 90% which we can tap into or that we do not know how to use. If we could, is this perhaps the area that is the inexplicable. The things that happen that are supernatural that we cannot put a finger on. Are these the parts of the brain that are out of the grasp of study and science's ability to describe and formulate? I have written about fluidity of the body and mind, how practicing something over and over and over again leads to a subconscious ability to go to a super fluid level where everything works perfectly during a performance as if it is superhuman or an out of body experience. There are some days in life where everything just seems to flow effortlessly and smoothly without any stress or worry. A day where you form new memories, recall vivid old memories. and are clearly in the present while focusing on the future. A perfect blend of all things past, present and future! These are the days we look forward to where we have appreciation for the past, gratitude for the present, and hope for the future. This is a super day of super fluidity where everything flows, and we are acutely aware of our surroundings, the people we love, the events we are experiencing, and how precious life truly is. It is natural to feel good in this way. Our hormones are balanced, our stress level is unnoticeable. Who am I kidding? A day like this is certainly supernatural! It can happen. It does happen. We cannot explain it but it is real. I naturally would like everyday to be so super!

Thank you for the alternative perspective on the supernatural. You’ve also given us a practical way to make use of it. Picturing your day “where everything just seems to flow effortlessly” is a fantastically simple way to set some super fluid intentions for our day. My husband has a window cleaning business and has worked at it since we graduated high school; we’re in our 40’s now. For years he has practiced cleaning windows and because of the repetition he is able to reach that super fluid level you’ve described on a daily basis. He finds it to be a place of meditation; even people nearby have commented that his movements are memorizing. When he comes home he has a plethora of philosophical thoughts and questions to share. Like you, he wishes everyone could have this experience, every day.
