Stint with Data Science

Lao Tzu once said, “A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step.”

My interest in ‘Data Science/ Machine Learning’ began in 2018, while discussing how to manage, Machine Learning’ PoCs with my mentor. As this was a new subject for me, I planned to upskill myself on the same and enrolled for the course ‘A-Z of Machine Learning – Hands-On using Python and R’ by Kirill Erimenko and Hadelin De Ponteves on e-learning platform, Udemy. It is a fantastic course and would recommend to people looking out for a structured course on Machine Learning.

Once I completed the course, I had a fair understanding of the subject. However, to learn more on the, ‘under the hood’ mechanism, in 2019 I enrolled for the big daddy course on 'Machine Learning' by Andrew Ng on Coursera (Affiliated to Stanford University). It helped to demystify the important concepts of Algebra/ Calculus used in ‘Machine Learning’.

Then came 2020, and I was looking for a course which can offer me a full stack understanding of Data Science. I deliberated few of the choices with my mentor, and finally decided to go ahead with Great Learning.

And after 12 months of rigorous efforts, I have successfully completed my ‘Post Graduate Program in Data Science and Business Analytics’.

Would like to express my gratitude to people who have been part of this exciting journey directly or indirectly – Vijay Ramakrishnan, Amandeep Singh Malhan, Abhishek Gupta, Urvashi Gupta, Netali Agarwal, Saakshi Nayak, Sampada Mall, last but not the least, Manjeet Chandra, my wife, for putting up with my erratic schedule, and all my PGP – DSBA Batchmates. Thank you one and all for your guidance and support.

Just like every story has an end but every end is a beginning of a new story, a new journey a new learning opportunity.
