Starting a New Chapter

So after many years working in information and communication technology (ICT) research at large corporations, I've decided to start a new chapter in my career and branch out into consulting. I've had the privilege of working with many world class-engineers from Sweden, Germany, Hungary, Japan, and, in Silicon Valley, with engineers from India, China and the US, and learned something new and interesting from all of them. It's been a fun ride, but now it's time to move on to something new, namely running my own consulting business. I've been interested for many years in applying these lessions to cleantech, and for the last five years, I've been doing pro-bono consulting with cleantech startups on ICT topics through the Powerhouse Accelerator (now unfortunately closed) in Oakland, and working as the Silicon Valley deal scout for E8 Angels, a cleantech angel funding group in Seattle. I'm also interested in blockchain technology particularly how to apply blockchain technology to cleantech, and I've submitted an application to the U.C. Santa Cruz extension school to teach a blockchain course later this year. But I'll also consider other proposed contracts for application areas in addition to cleantech, as long as I feel I can utilize my background in cloud architecture, cloud security, networking and other ICT topics in some business area relevant to solving important problems. And I'm hoping to connect with old friends in the process!

Great to hear, James Kempf! Good luck to live your passion, and great for any company that get your services.

All the best James! Glad to see you pursuing your passion for clean tech 100% of the time. I still remember being in awe about how you got a new Toyota Prius (when it first came out) and went farther than Toyota by remaking it with many extra batteries so that it operates as a pure EV vehicle and you were already pushing power back to the grid by then :)
