Spectrum Virtualize marching forward

The recent announcement of Spectrum Virtualise 7.7.1 is very special one. Beside significant hardware improvements very well covered by Barry Whyte here, IBM has now made Spectrum Virtualize available as a Software Only package.

The Spectrum Virtualize software stack has already proven its great flexibility and portability by being at the core of the All Flash V9000 Array as well as the Storwize hybrid array family. The net result was the ability to address very various requirements in terms of performance, cost and scalability without sacrificing simplicity and interoperability.

The announcement of Spectrum Virtualize as a Software confirms the commitment to allow organisations to deploy an end to end data centre with software defined technologies. Most importantly it offers yet another simple path to hybrid cloud deployments.
