"Smart Work Centres" using Cloud Services
Cloud Computing is one of the new and changing business model enabled by the emergence of the different technologies associated with cloud computing.
The different types of Cloud Services that are Software As a Service (SAAS), Platform As a Service (PAAS) and Infrastructure As a Service (IAAS) are creating different delivery models for end customers. These cloud services must be provided in a way as it acts as an end product to the customer.
One of the such product i came across recently is "Smart Work Centers"
In today's world where there is increase in demand of higher productivity and income, "Smart Work Centers" using cloud computing can be one of the way to restructure business and operating models.
By "Smart Work", I mean develop a model using cloud and smart devices where employee can work out at distributed work centers that are more closer to their homes and they can operate more collaboratively with customers. Companies can rent space for smart centers nearby clients location where employees of that area can work together with clients to achieve better client satisfaction. This benefits in time management, traffic congestion, employee satisfaction.
I came across with one similar decentralized cloud platform which provides guaranteed privacy, "Enigma" developed by MIT media lab. It allows users to store, share and analyze personal data without revealing it to any third party. Homomorphic Encryption is used here to provide privacy which allows computations on the data without decrypting them. In its decentralized platform, data queries are computed in a distributed way. Data is split between different nodes and they compute functions together without leaking any information to any other nodes. No single party can access the entire data instead every party has its individual data meaningless.
Moving towards Telecom domain, in regard to emerging cloud services, I would like to bring an analogy between power companies and Telecom companies. They both have distributed network. But power companies have a product (electricity) that they make and deliver across their network. So they make money on both operating their network and on making and selling their product.
However Telecom companies only operate their networks, they do not have a product (from Cloud services aspect) to sell and this hurts their profitability.
In SUMMARY
Like "Enigma", market leading Companies are further coming up with new innovative cloud products and looking it as engines for growth and transformation.
