Smart home robotics: Why the technology matters
Advancements in smart home robotics have grown leaps and bounds in the past decade. Who could have imagined just a few years ago that we would have a home assistant giving us weather, jokes, groceries and more? Did anyone think home monitoring would be DIY, with affordable live cameras and voice control on the palm of our hands? And let’s talk about how home cleaning has changed – my family has not physically vacuumed or mopped our floors in years thanks to the numerous ECOVACS DEEBOTs we’ve had, most recently the T8 AIVI.
When I made the jump to ECOVACS, I knew that the company was a market leader, as one of the top-two global robotic floor cleaner brands, but when I looked deeper, I was amazed at the level of innovation and technology found within our product lineup. The other market leader was chasing us.
ECOVACS has been pushing the boundaries with its premium floor-cleaning home robots for over a decade, delivering technology-driven firsts in both products and functionality. The company was the first to introduce a vacuuming-plus-mopping robot with its OZMO technology, saving consumers time and money. It was the first to build artificial intelligence (AI) into floor cleaning robots to recognize and clean around household obstacles like cords and shoes, to save consumers from needing to “clean before cleaning.”
ECOVACS was also the first company using the most advanced laser-based technology in the category (DToF) to create the most efficient, customized mapping. And we were the first to include a home monitoring system in a cleaning robot with on-demand video monitoring via an app. These innovations have been game changers – with other market leaders struggling to keep up.
The innovation brings to mind so many other products and technologies that have catapulted their industries to new heights. Ring versus ADT. Apple versus HP. Google versus Bing. Innovation, design, and smart ecosystems drive successful companies.
Innovation is at the heart of ECOVACS’s mission. With over a decade in smart home development and 100% ownership of its design, R&D and manufacturing, the company leads the market in patents (more than 800 to-date) and industry firsts. And ECOVACS has been pushing the boundaries in broader home robotics R&D with robotic window cleaners (Winbot) and mobile air purifiers (Atmobot). A true, home service robotics ecosystem is in the not-so-distant future.
But technology innovation in and of itself is not the end goal. It’s all about making consumer lives easier. ECOVACS has automated the tedious task of home cleaning with a smart home robot that does the work – delivering a life-changing consumer benefit.
I can’t wait to be a part of the massive innovations in the works at ECOVACS – there are sweeping changes ahead (pun intended). Stay tuned – they’re right around the corner.
Well done!
Very cool stuff, Eric!
