Simple joy

Simple joy

We have been here two weeks and the single thing that strikes me most at Zimpeto is the overwhelming joy in the simplicity of life. It is humbling to learn from children who have, well let me say, not much, and yet despite this fact the joy that they have is contagious.

The stories that have led these beautiful children to be here, vary, but have elements of sorrow and pain, yet despite this rough start to life they have been given a hope not only for today but tomorrow. Hope is such a beautiful gift, that no matter where in the world we may be, we should give it without sparing.

My family love being here. While I will be involved with the Finance team, I am finding it such a great joy to spend time with my kids without the luxury? of TV, and also with our new extended family. We are now Dorm Parents for 30 fun-loving 8-11 year old boys who want to share their lives with us, and for us to share right back to them. Maybe I am biased but they are 30 of the best kids I have ever met, and while they will stretch us out of our comfort zone, we are so grateful to have each and every one of them in our lives, knowing that we will learn so much from them for however many years we are here.

So in posting this, can I encourage you as I have been encouraged by these kids. Life doesn't have to be complicated. In fact it is meant to be simple. Invest your time into the ones you love, and that simple joy will shine through.
