Simple Excel Solutions: Charts Custom Combination

Creating meaningful charts sometimes become tricky; the major idea of creating charts is to picture financial results for better presentation and understanding.

To emphasize different kinds of information in a chart, you can combine two or more charts. For example, you can combine a column chart with a line chart.

Sample: how to create custom combination of Clustered Column Chart with Line.

Clustered Column Chart: that chart is used to compare the values across a few categories. For instance Current Year Actual to Last Year Actual to Current Year Target as in the sample below. The view is not the best.

For better presentation let’s do custom combination and change Target Column type to Line: select Target data and then “right mouse click”, select “Change Series Chart Type”.

New window “Change Series Chart Type” opens; select chart type to desired data series (Target):

As you can see final results is much better presented.
