Siege Mentality!
In football, Jose Mourinho is famously affiliated with these words: "Siege Mentality"! He would build an "Us versus them" mentality to get the very best out of his teams and this notion has worked on umpteen occasions through out his trophy laden career. He would sometime even use the club as the opposition and instigate a reaction from the players. Anything that gave him a psychological edge over his opponent. But there are moments where it didn't work which led to him losing the dressing room, the fans and eventually his job.
Siege mentality is when an "outside force" is attacking a group and this feeling would then lead to a sense of cohesion between the affected group. It's used in politics, business, relationships and army to get a psychological understanding or sometimes a favour.
Now not all of us are familiar with this term but having this sort of mentality does helps you on many occasions. What this means is building a mentality that can motivate you to be a better version yourself, be stubborn because you want to complete a task or start that gym routine or get yourself to writing that article. Let this thought keep pricking you until you finally get to whatever it is you wanted to initiate or do. Don't give up.
Building a siege mentality does not mean you take everything that is happening and think it's going against you, that just sheer ignorance and probably pushing connect beyond its logical limit. What it depicts is that, there are instances or moments in life where you can use this idea to propel yourself into a better manager, person, player or student. This can be applied to the smallest of things which will eventually have a better outcome. Such as coming out of toxic relationship - build this mentality to just gain sheer mental strength to overcome yourself or failing to reach a particular objective which may make you feel hopeless but find this mentality then to get out of this abyss and make you gasp for a better performance. There are numerous examples where this frame of mind adheres a positive outcome. And this is the way it should be used.
The idea is to be an individual that doesn't give up, lose hope or think the world has come to an end after failure. Your mental state matters a lot more than you possibly can fathom, when you are away on your own, you'll be pounded by thoughts and sometimes you'll be looking out for something to hold on to or provide you some kind of respite and there may be none which may lead you to just collapse but this is where the subtle practice of being that bit more resurgent, bit more stubborn, obstinate with yourself will aid you to just maybe think that you have more within you and lead you to believe that you're capable of more than you could think. That's siege mentality at its very best.
