SETTING-UP AN ENTERPRISE DATA MANAGEMENT PLATFORM

I am very happy to share my journey to an incredible solution that was designed and implemented to help a customer realize the potential of their own data for both internal and external customers.

OBJECTIVE:

Enable decision-making backed by insights achieved through data across organization.

• Integrate the disparate sources of data within each “data set”
• Integrate where possible the information across “data sets”
• Provide a user-friendly and robust front-end user interface that will enable business user with data manipulation and visualization capabilities.

USE CASE: The client has highly underutilized and disintegrated data across the organization. The untapped potential to monetize and democratize the data is gigantic: especially when the client has undisputed trade and holds 70%-80% healthcare data. 

AS-IS SCENARIO:

Primary data sets identified as (on SAP HANA and AS400)

• Transactional Distribution Data
• Commercial Sales Force Data

Above process in client environment has always been highly prone to errors, high maintenance and not available in real-time.

JOURNEY TO ENTERPRISE DATA MANAGEMENT CHALLENGES:

THE SOLUTION:

Given the objectives captured during early phases of the engagement, I proposed a self-service Big Data platform that will enable users across organization to “connect, analyze and decide” following data in motion model and further consolidates data from other sources either at rest or on-demand. The solution helped to connects, ingests, transforms and consolidates the data from sources like SAP HANA and Postgres databases, including product and solutions application data.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Building of Commercial and Transactional data landscape
• One place for all the data from key business drivers: logistics, consumers and manufacturing
• Highly scalable depending upon the growth of organization’s data-marts

KEY BENEFITS:

The customer was empowered by bringing them closer to diversified data, to be more productive and reducing the dependency on external technology experts to streamline the change management process. The implemented solution has resulted in higher ROI and lower TCO for the client.
