Sensor templates
As promised, we've been working on some new build-in templates to the monitor project. The first released is a sensor template, which is now in beta test for selected customers.
The template simply handles 3 states: None, True, False. To each state a state text can be added and sensor talkback timestamp can also be displayed, indicating when the sensor state was last triggered.
Water sensor example
Based on that information we've build a sensor/detector for a customer, capable of detecting water level in a drain system. It's attached to a server using the USB port.
If the water raises to a certain level, the sensor triggers state True = Water detected. If the water recedes, the sensor triggers state False = No water detected. The last state None is used to tell the monitor that there is no talkback from the sensor. The server could be offline, the detector broken or not capable of reading a state for some other reason.
As mentioned in another article, the template can also receive alert information of different kind. Common to these are the possibility to trigger the alert system, where people supervising it, can get alerted when something is wrong. In the example we setup, the supervisor(s) will receive a screen warning, an E-mail and text message that water level is above critical level and actions should be taken. Once the situation is normalized and water level is back to normal level, the supervisor(s) can then cancel the alert.
So what's next?
We will continue to build new templates and the selected customers will continue beta test the system. We expect the test to be done in 2019 and all the planned build-in templates will then be released with the monitor system.
