Sensitive Data Reporting and Visualization – Demonstrating Compliance

A major change in cybersecurity is the emphasis on ensuring customer information (data) is handled in a secure and auditable manner. All of us are aware of the many consumer data breaches regularly in the news. Although these breaches are not actually new, the consequences for businesses are, and continue to mount.

The business risk associated with managing consumer or sensitive data is now at a level where business must include expert and automated management of sensitive data as an integral part of their cybersecurity architecture.

Legal actions, internal and government audits now require proof of accountability through controls and processes that are well-defined (documented) and auditable.

The most obvious way to demonstrate compliance is through regular and on-demand reporting. These same issues and concerns require executives to be able to understand (visualize) the status of their sensitive data footprint as part of managing cybersecurity and the customer experience.

Sensitive data reports do not show the sensitive data, but rather use advanced analytics to show how the processes of managing sensitive data within an organization are performing. Customizable views and reports must be available based on legal, audit, regulatory and compliance requirements.

These same reports and visualization are also needed to provide the information required as part of major regulatory and compliance requirements like GDPR/DSAR requests, among others.
