Security tools - what does it take?
Keeping up with the cybersecurity industry and the various categories and offerings is a daunting task. However, in my experience, there are several simple themes that are kind of foundational to the toolchain selection.
The thrust of the matter is looking at the cybersecurity in the context of the business. Reducing risks, enabling faster development, unifying operations across diverse infrastructures and managing costs are fundamentally the objectives of any security team.
CISO and their team becomes an enabler and a catalyst of the better IT practices, but to do that they need to select the right tools. What tools are right? There are five simple requirements that apply to most, if not all, security solutions.
1. Operates in real-world diverse environments
- For unifying the operations
2. Helps make security easy for developers and operations
- To enable faster quality development
3. Adaptable and self-learning without manual configuration
- To reduce costs and shorten the window of vulnerability
4. Supports zero-trust
- To reduce the risk of internal or trusted partner threat
5. Monitors for all stages of kill-chain
- To cap the impact of potential security breach
At Traceable we are building the solution that solves for most of these issues. Check out my latest blog for more in-depth on typical security toolchain requirements and how Traceable addresses those.
