Request

Hi Everybody,

Like some of you already know, I haven’t been so happy the recent two years. I am not going to dwell on this now, it’s more that I have been watching from the bottom what was happening around me and what mess came and is still coming about in the world. It is a fact that I am still not completely out of the dumps but that is also why I want to request something:

I got inspired, and even more, motivated. My own datavisualization-project on suicide numbers of the Netherlands is one of the motivators. The deplorable state of the specialized mental health care (in the Netherlands but in many other countries as well), the Black Lives Matter movement, data-gaps (like the systematically neglect and lack of data on women), Covid-19 of course, and some other personal things like LGBTQ, are all motives for me to start a search on how I can deploy myself more in a societal important and connecting way. To use my datavisualization design knowledge to communicate more about taboos and inequality for example. I already approached some individuals but as I don’t exactly know where the needs are, where I can and want to contribute, I would appreciate if you could think along.

Are there people in my network, in your network, who can help me find contacts? At companies, initiatives, charities, which can use my expertise?

What to think about then?

I can visualize data of researches, of underlying information. I can create a flowchart (a patient journey, when what happened). I can assist looking for relevant lacking data to create insightful visualizations. I can advise on how to create good attractive graphs, what you can (or can't) do with your data.

What I wish for myself is a meaningful contribution. I know I can design good-looking visualizations, I really like what I do and I handle projects with devotion and a broad view. And I do not hesitate to ask critical questions on the data.

For examples have a look at my website http://www.studioterp.nl/ and behance.net/STUDIOTERP. And here you find my project on suicide: a view on despair

If there are questions, let me know! I like sharing what I do and why. I hope that with reaching out this way there will open at least one door. And of course I will still be available for other projects :-)

Thank you for reading, I genuinely appreciate when you share my article, cheers, Sonja
