Replace lectures with e-learning and make the teaching at universities more effective
Lectures belong in the past and today it is no longer beneficial to show up physically at the universities in order to learn. If we replace lectures with e-learning, money will be saved and the same time, the academic level at the universities will be elevated.
Lectures made sense in the past
Back in ‘the old days’ it was required that students attended all lessons. The reason for this was the level of specific qualification of the teacher which made him the only person who knew how to properly disseminate the educational material. Naturally it was impossible for the teacher to go around and visit every single student in order to impart the teaching, so as a result, giving lectures became the common form of education.
Technology has opened up a sea of opportunities
It is a different story today, and the internet has taken over the leading role as the most effective tool for gathering knowledge. Using the right methods and habitual rituals, one can get basically all answers from the internet, even to questions related to the most complex studies. Today, it is almost impossible to find knowledge that is not documented digitally on the internet. Besides, computers, smartphones, tablets and video have been developed so successfully that the internet contains infinite possibilities for passing on knowledge at any level, any time and in any place.
The typical teacher cannot compete with Youtube
Let’s just admit it - an ordinary teacher could never make the teaching material as exciting, informative or cleverly worded as a Youtube video filled with visual aids and post-editing, resulting in precise communication.
Let us not waste the time of talented teachers
If we save the teachers’ time, wages and activities of thought, and instead invest in preparing them for the development of efficient and informative e-learning material, this would result in the creation of recyclable educational material, preventing the teacher from having to repeat the same lectures over and over again for different lessons and classes.
It is easier to concentrate when you are alone
When the education takes place at a lecture, the students’ behaviour is affected by procrastination on social media, yawning and tired eyes, keeping track of time. Additionally, distracting elements such as the memories of last friday’s beer bar or the looks of a cute girl can easily enter the mind of a student situated in a large auditorium.
By using e-learning, the student is surrounded by self-chosen environments such as a desk at home, guaranteeing an isolated situation where there is 100 per cent complete focus on learning.
The educational system saves money whilst making the teaching more efficient
Therefore, the teachers avoid having to waste their talent and focus by repeating themselves in every lesson, and instead, they get to focus on research and developing ground-breaking educational methods and material. When the student receives precise and informative education through Youtube films and digital courses, the learning process is optimised and freed of time and space.
