Project Based Learning
Project Based learning is an approach designed to give the students the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge with engaging projects that are based on challenges and problems the company face in the real world. It is a step towards learning from the real world. Project Based Learning is not just doing the project it is based on doing a project with investigating, engaging, complex problems or challenges, recommendations to the company. Hence for this the research has to be done and information has to be gathered that is why Project Based Learning is learning by doing.
Why Project Based Learning?
The system on how school teaches is that you have to memorize the textbooks/notes and you try to pass the exam at the end. The engagement crisis is high in education sector and as the education system of India is so boring that the students end up being mugging all the things up for the exams. The process is boring and most of the students don’t pay that much attention in class.
The problem can be solved by schools focusing on the work that matters and use the Project Based Learning method. The schools should take up on the methods that some of the universities as their teaching methods. The students when they enter in the real world and start a new job/business they have to solve problems but they are not taught that in schools. With the help of Project Based Learning the students can learn to solve the problems and challenges and this will also help them in paying attention to class.
The Project Based learning also makes the learning process interesting but also, they teach the valuable things such as Critical thinking (you have to do research and find possibilities for the problem to be solved), Collaboration (You have to work in a team and teach you team work) and Communication (How to communicate with the team members). This all stuff is not taught in the traditional classroom methods. In the 21st Century the students should have skills from the time of school and not when they join their college/university.
