Professional, Career and Personal development with UpGrad Software Development program in association with IIIT-Bangalore
I am presently working as a System Analyst at United Health Group, majorly working on Server Administration and automation. Prior to this I have worked as a Java Developer at Optimus Information. I have done some MOOCs related to software development and technology during my 2.8 years of career, but my search of a proper Full Stack Software Development program led me to Post Graduate Diploma in Software Development Program by UPGRAD in partnership with IIIT Bangalore, one of the premier academic institutions.
I enrolled in this program in Dec 2017. 6 months into it, let me share my experience with this program. The course seriously requires a lot of dedicated hard-work with proper commitment and discipline in meeting all the deadlines.
Program starts with basic pre-requisite course which helps set foundation for people who have very less or no Software Development experience. Then there are 3 most important Foundation Core courses: OOPS, Algorithms and Data Structures. After these, there are modules on Software Engineering Frameworks, Server-Side Development, Front End Development, Cloud Deployment and DevOps. These modules make this one of its kind of program.
The program is designed in such a way that it is industry relevant. In every course, one of the industry mentors talk about real world implementation of concepts which makes course content more interesting and relevant.
UPGRAD provides a portal where students of the program can view their overall progress into the program along with a robust discussion forum where students and Teaching Assistants help fellow students with doubts resolution that arise during course of the program. Regular live sessions are organized by UpGrad mostly on weekends so that most of the students can attend. These live sessions given by industry mentors or course professors are focused towards clearing doubts and industry relevance related to that particular course.
UPGRAD has an amazing concept of assigning a student mentor for students of program. Gauri is our student mentor. She is very pro-active and always ready to help related to any issues and concerns. Plus, she makes sure that we meet all the deadlines for completion of modules, assignments. She has really helped me in difficult situations. I also want to take this opportunity to thank her from core of my heart for her constant support and help. This program has a fully developed evaluation system which involves assignments, course exams, graded questions and student participation. Proctored exams are conducted on Mettl platform.
Overall, I can say that this program is one of a kind program which can help transform a person into a full stack developer in less than a year. But this program requires a serious dedicated hard work to excel with discipline and proper commitment.
