Power of Knowledge Sharing
What is Knowledge Sharing?
Knowledge sharing is the idea by which any form of useful information is passed on from one person to another.
It could relate to anybody who wants to share his experiences, data, lectures, skillset, work, etc.
In a corporate setting, knowledge can be taken to a whole new level if it's shared with others. Other employees can benefit from the shared knowledge and upgrade it with their own expertise, skills, and experience. After being multiplied, upgraded, and further developed, knowledge becomes one of the company's most significant assets.
Why Is It Important to Share Knowledge?
Innovation & development:
Clients come to us because they know that knowledge workers need to understand their organization and the competition. We help them to create an efficient knowledge sharing system that draws all employees together. It makes staff aware of how the company is doing and updates them about the market and the competition. So, workers can keep track of what’s happening in the field and are inspired to think bigger.
Increases Employees’ Satisfaction:
Knowledge sharing is not restricted to the best, most positive experiences. In fact, sharing bad experiences or failures allows employees to analyze the issues and identify the pitfalls they can avoid in the future to guarantee their own success in the process.

Discourages Secrecy:
Employees are often in a mental tug of war with each other, trying to outdo one another one way or another. This competition is not a healthy one since they are competing against members of their own team when their focus should be to challenge their competitors. By promoting a culture of open sharing and interaction, companies can discourage knowledge hoarding and in turn, encourage the distribution of information across an organization.
Enhances Productivity:
The exchange of information within a team or an organization makes the workplace more productive. Knowledge from different areas allows employees to avoid common problems, take the best path for the journey, and think creatively to solve problems. All this ultimately increases the productivity of the employees and the company.
Raise Employees’ Confidence:
The access to valuable information makes employees more confident in the way they do things. Their decisions are not only a result of their own expertise but are built upon information that validates their way of working. While new employees learn from the experiences and knowledge of their seniors, old employees benefit from the information brought by new employees. The two-way exchange makes employees more confident in the way they work.
Improve Business Processes:
The pool of shared knowledge optimizes business processes, increasing the odds of success. The usage of this knowledge helps employees make informed decisions for the betterment of the organization which not only improves business processes but also proves beneficial for the employees themselves.
I recently joined IBM and I got to know about “IBM Lighthouse”, which is a wonderful knowledge sharing platform for IBMers. It provides access to reusable documents and assets and is a great repository for any technical help or any process related documents. Here one can search documents or blogs according to their interest or service line.
As a part of this wonderful program ‘Proud IBMer 20 Tasks for 22', I would like to thank Ayan Pal , Bharati Muthu and Tharashri S for being a great Mentor.
