This a term that was brought up by the french, as a report of a deceased person, but in this case, we will talk about a webservice shutdown.

Issue Summary:

Duration:

The service shutdown took place from 01-04-2021 at 6:00PM UTC-5, and lasted until 10:00PM UTC-5 of the same day.

Impact:

Users could not display the webpage, getting stucked on a 404 Error message.

a 100% of the users where dissapointed and exasperated(me).

Root Cause:

What caused the issue was that subdomain re-assignation, so it took quite some time to take place from the service provider to go live again.

Timeline:

01-04-2021 at 6:00PM UTC-5 I had to redirect the subdomain, so I went and changed the subdomain of www.marcospimienta.tech to 35.243.174.193 causing 404 error.

01-04-2021 at 10:00PM UTC-5 The site was live again and actualized.

Root:

The service provider in this case .techDomains, was taking a lot of time to make the changes go live.

The issue just got resolved by waiting out, there was nothing I could do, so I read by the meantime.

Corrective and preventative measures:

Just be patient, or get another service provider, by no reason or circumstance, change again the subdomain thinking that it will catch on faster, because it will restart the entire process.
