I’m going to share a secret.
As a soccer referee, one of the tricks that’s passed down is the ‘sprint to the incident’ technique. It allows you to sprint to the decision you missed because you were so very far away from it.
For some, this creates the illusion that you are always close to the action, always in control, and always ready for what’s coming next.
But for most, including the referee, it shows utter incompetence.
💡 Love a football analogy. I guess sometimes we are in the thick of the action and other times we might be off the pace. What I like about the ref analogy is, you are in the game but you aren't part of the play and a good one keeps play going for as long as possible without needless interruptions.
