Pacdbg - for testing your proxy configuration script.

Pacdbg - for testing your proxy configuration script.

Over the years, I have been asked to check internet browser setting, the Network guy is going, 'Its your browser', Application support are going, 'no we are not getting out..' and it goes around (a bit of wireshark sniffing goes on)... Proxy settings get turned off, "it Works !!" - "no it still doesn't work !!"...

And then you get the user (usually someone better paid than us) - "but it works from home... !" - settings are ignored at home...

Proxy servers are very useful, in small business's, it helps in caching (where data plans are capped). In all businesses, it adds restrictions, and can also load balance and auditing.  However, some applications do not like it or understand them.  I was checking out a publishing application the other week, and it had a lot of different url's that it uses. I was going get a lot of changes done and have to test each one...

So I found this utility a very long time ago.. Last year, I tried it and it has stopped working.. So google produced the source, and the developers github details, so I thought... I can hack this..

Well many thanks goes to the original chap, but here is my attempt..

I removed a few things, added the following..

  • Tabs are replaced with spaces for display purposes.
  • A list of URL's can be tested, this file is iterated and results are displayed.
  • Added the results grid.

Todo:

  • Saving the results.
  • Command line options.
  • Get a limited result from the url.

I have uploaded it back to Git-hub..
    - link to install

Enjoy..
