Open Source DevOps Keeps You Sharp!
Living on the edge of DevOps requires sharpness. At JFrog we believe that it cant only come from inside the company but from the community wisdom as well.
In the past years I've learned that leaders must be a much better listeners than talkers. Listening and learning from the Open Source community keeps you sharp, here is why:
- The Real Pain, The Right Solution - the community has no mercy! they will raise the right technical solution to a king level and will buried a mediocre in a day. If you listen well and insist in learning from the open source voices you'll be focused on the real pain and A class solution
- Quality - nothing is better than millions of developers that testing your product. Nothing is more transparent than this "QA team" who share the feedback on Twitter and not Jira
- Early adopters - while your paying customers might hesitate before they update and upgrade, your community will "leap into the water" and share a non-biased feedback with you (and the world)
- Be Your Voice - open source developers love to tweet and talk. No marketer in the world will be able to promote your solution like the community as long as your product is good enough and something they want to be assosiated with
- Innovation - when you give, you get back. The community brings the crowd wisdom into your products. Tons of innovation will be included in your roadmap if this will be long run relationship and not a flirt with the community
The world of DevOps is relatively new, but it's community already have deep open source roots and strong DNA. If vendors will better listen they will stay sharp and release better solutions.
Stay tuned, we are planning to release much more in Q2 - or join us at swampUP 2017 to learn from the community leaders.
