Nothing is Impossible... Right?
It was another Monday morning when I reached my workplace half awake half asleep (I call it zombie mode) thinking why weekends go so fast. I poured myself some coffee and started going through mails, LinkedIn and miscellaneous stuff to wake up and get on with tasks. I was going through the LinkedIn posts and I saw 'nothing is impossible' post by a random connected person. Usually we all skip through such posts and move on with our lives but it kind of started to bother me. Nothing is impossible sounded so cliché to me. Have you ever thought about it? Probably not.
When someone says nothing is impossible what does he/she actually mean? Is it really that way or we just over use such expressions trying to motivate our selves but actually we are not. Most of us just share these posts to feel better, spread positivity, make others motivated or perhaps get some likes. If you ask me, the word 'impossible' is highly subjective. Confused? Okay for example, I recently developed a lot of interest in Football (Soccer for North Americans, which is stupid itself!) which is so intensive that sometimes I feel like playing in the middle of the night. If I am really in love with this sport, someone might say why not go all in? I would say 'Nay, I can't make it to the top level, its impossible'. When I say impossible I have my reasons, I mean what are the odds of a 28-year old guy starting playing a sport now and make it to the top? Aren't there thousands of people trying to do that already and only few hundred reaching the sport newspaper headlines?
In my opinion, every person among us have defined their own horizons themselves about achieving something and if anything goes beyond that, it becomes impossible which actually is NOT. The reason because we might be afraid to try, a lot of obstacles ahead, lack of resources, lack of motivation to go all in, pressures from society... so many factors. I do believe that there are people who made us believe 'everything is possible' like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Lionel Messi, etc. They faced problems yet they never gave up.
Its difficult to conclude this because everyone has a different perspective on this topic but when I thought about it, I think 'nothing is impossible' somehow could be used in a positive way to motivate ourselves to broaden our horizons and we all should try to at least not give up the first time we face obstacles. Saying that, I also believe that we should remain practical as well. We all know what is right for us and what is not and if we're still confused then we need someone with much more experience advising us what would be the right direction, perhaps that is why we need teachers (which might be my next post about).
So 'everything is possible' but 'not every possible thing is possible'. Similarly 'nothing is impossible' but 'not every impossible thing is impossible as well'. Matt Demon reached Mars, A couple of people went through black hole and relocated themselves to new planets (Interstellar), what else do you need to believe that anything could be possible ;). Try to think about it once, I am sure you will since I have successfully confused you so much now. Cheers!
Appreciated effort...
