Normal Distribution

It is also known as the Gaussian distribution and the bell shaped curve.

There are following features of Normal Distribution:

1.It takes values from - ∞ to + ∞.

2.Area under the entire curve is always equal to 1.

3. The probability associated with any single value of Random variable is always Zero (0).

4.Mean, Median and Mode of a normal distribution are equal.

5.Normal distributions are symmetric around their mean.

6. 68.26% of my data points in data set lie one standard deviation of the mean.(i.e σ=1)

7.Approximate 95% of the area of normal Distribution is within Two standard deviation of the mean.(i.e σ=2)

8.Normal distributions are defined by two parameters, the mean (μ) and the standard deviation (σ).
