I am immensely pleased and proud to share a significant achievement accomplished by our department. Our talented III IT students — Karthigeyan G, Karthik K, Samraj R, and Harish D — have successfully secured the 9th Prize at the highly regarded Regional Hackathon 2K26. The event was organized by the NGI Technology Business Incubator (NGI-TBI) of Nehru Group of Institutions, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, and served as a dynamic platform for young innovators from various engineering institutions to showcase their skills and ideas.

The hackathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from numerous competitive teams, making the achievement of our students particularly noteworthy. Throughout the event, the team demonstrated exceptional levels of innovation, strong technical proficiency, and a commendable spirit of teamwork. Their project clearly addressed a real-world problem and reflected their ability to apply theoretical concepts learned in the classroom to develop practical, technology-driven solutions. This effective translation of academic knowledge into real-life applications truly set them apart from many other participants.

The evaluation panel expressed appreciation for the team’s clear articulation of ideas, creative design approach, and well-structured solution. Their confident presentation, originality, and seamless collaboration were recognized as key strengths that contributed to their success. These qualities highlighted not only their technical competence but also their readiness to face real-world engineering and entrepreneurial challenges.

As a reward for their outstanding performance, the team has been granted six months of free incubation support worth ₹25,000, along with an opportunity for selection consideration at the National-level finale. This incubation program will provide valuable mentoring, technical guidance, and entrepreneurial exposure, helping them refine their concept into a viable and scalable product.

Such achievements underline the importance of experiential learning platforms like hackathons, which play a vital role in nurturing creativity, innovation, and leadership among students. They inspire young minds to think beyond textbooks and grow into confident innovators and future entrepreneurs.
