The new Microsoft
I am not sure I either like or dislike this new Microsoft strategy with Windows 10.
Too much heat on the discussions for my taste. Overall it is just a corporate strategy. It's clear that MS is trying more and more be like Apple. For years they were a software company. Now they have their own hardware (the Surface I am using to write this text which is a hell of a device), their own phones (Nokia) and their OS, of course. With the advantage that they have other hardware companies to supply users with other devices that also use their OS. And they have Office, for which there is still no replacement.
Will it work? It will have ups and downs. Benefits and problems. Companies will have to adapt or choose another OS/device strategy that doesn't involve MS (which counting servers, workstations and users it is not easy).
We'll see.
It is a new MS, but not like Apple. They are going big on Cloud, multi platform, and just wrote off their Nokia purchase. They are charting their own path. Let's see where it takes they.
