On to a New Chapter
Wow, I can't believe it's almost time for me to graduate. This entry will be my last blog post for portfolio and professional development. While it's almost time for me to walk the stage and receive my diploma, I'm grateful for everything that I've accomplished this semester, and I'm excited to see what's next.
This semester, I've juggled 17 hours of classwork, 22-25 hours a week working to make ends meet, and extra circular activities. This has not been easy task, as each week has left me feeling tired, and I have to take extra care of myself to make sure I don't burn out. But to be honest, it's all been worth it. I feel prepared to take on the next step out of college, which is finding a job within my degree. Luckily for me, there's all kinds of resources for getting hired.

LinkedIn is an amazing platform, as it provides tips and tricks to getting hired out of college. I've been applying for many jobs using my LinkedIn profile, and I think it's helped me in the long run to snagging a job that will lead me to success. I've set my settings to "looking for work" which has put me in connections to recruiters who are hiring recent grads. I even had an interview this past week for a job, which I think went really well! I felt confident going in to it with the skills and tricks I learned throughout this course.
Throughout this semester, my portfolio and professional development course has taught me so much. I've learned how to confidently go in to an interview, how to network with recruiters, how to polish your resume and cover letter, and how to brand myself. I feel confident and proud to be a(n almost graduate) of West Texas A&M University, and I feel that my education has equipped me to go on to bigger and better things. While I'm sad to leave this chapter of life, I know that I am ready for whatever the real world throws at me!
Oh, and one last thing: GO BUFFS!
