A New Beginning

A New Beginning

A new beginning. A chance to stop, reset, and forge ahead.

And a time to give thanks. To appreciate everything that life has given us… material and spiritual. A time to celebrate our relationships and our achievements.

The truth is, the past few years have not been easy. For many of us, this has meant personal sacrifice and commitment.

I believe we are now turning the corner. While many challenges persist, there are green shoots in biology and economy, that make for optimism about the future.

And I am optimistic the years ahead will be a time for renewal and growth. Even as we grow, we must do so thoughtfully, emphasizing in our efforts, quality over quantity, value over volume.

As we enter a new year, ideas worth considering.

1   Be Selfish, Be Selfless

In a rapidly evolving world, please be selfish. Invest in yourself. Set goals for personal and professional growth - track them and make them happen. If you are not growing, you are shrinking. And by making ourselves stronger, we have an opportunity to be selfless, to help others to achieve their dreams, to contribute towards the success of our group.

2   Be Adventurous, Be Disciplined

The greatest risk is to take no risk at all. We must continue to set audacious goals, ones which appear at first glance to be a bridge too far. These objectives, of course, must be thoughtful and achievable. And they must always align with our core beliefs and our purpose. Life has taught us that if we can imagine it, and if we are willing to muster the energy and discipline needed, we can do it.

3   Embrace Technology, Embrace Each Other

Today, our lives continue to evolve in ways we did not foresee. Much of this is a direct result of a technological revolution. While in its early days, exponential changes in technology will have far-reaching consequences in our work. We must embrace these and actively participate in embedding technology in everything we do. At the same time, we should recognize that technology alone, without open communication and trusting human relationships, will not deliver. To succeed, we need it all.

They say the future belongs to those who are brave enough to grasp it. To do that, we must invest in ourselves, be willing to take risks, and face each challenge with determination.

Carpe Diem.
