My Experience with Insider Builds (and Bash)

Windows and Ubuntu had a baby, and called it  Bash on Ubuntu on Windows. Not everyone is cooing over this new born, but it got me juiced up enough to press the two buttons required for me to see it in action.

It runs well on a 2GB Intel Atom PC, and could turn out to be much better than Cygwin. I am very happy with the  Insider Builds process. One nice feature was that when Anniversary Update was released, I turned off the Insider Builds and didn't need to reset my PC. If the builds had been out of sync with 'Production' Windows, I would have needed to reset.

On the minus side, I noticed that launching  Bash on the Insider Build created a 'root' session, which is acceptable in a beta release. When I updated some other PCs to Anniversary Update and installed Bash, I got to choose a default user, however my Insider Build PC, now with Insider Build turned off, therefore running official Anniversary Update, displayed a different behavior, still running sessions as root.

I could reinstall Bash, but would like to keep my settings (installed packages, etc). Anyone got a quick fix?
