Moving on From Readify

Moving on From Readify

I’ve enjoyed my career at Readify, but after over 5 years, I’ve made the tough decision to move on.

Aside from the breadth of technologies and people that I got to interact with, I also learnt a lot by being thrusted into (or observing) difficult and complex scenarios. Through this ‘trial by fire’ I have picked up several invaluable skills that will continue to serve me well in my career.

The things I’m most proud of in my time at Readify include:

  • Architecting, designing, and developing a distributed computing solution to deal with large volumes of financial data, at scale.
  • Assisting a customer with a difficult vendor relationship gone bad situation.
  • Assisting customers with all of the intricacies of change management as they migrated towards the cloud, moved along the agile journey, embraced DevOps, or needed help with a capability uplift of their staff.
  • Mentoring Readify and customer staff, helping them to become some of the of leaders of the future.
  • Being that trusted technical advisor, helping businesses in technical strategy.
  • Significant involvement in the generation of millions of dollars of revenue as part of the pre-sales process.
  • Finally, and most importantly, the opportunity to lead teams of people I both admire and respect.

I believe that every IT professional should have a go at consulting at least once in their career.

From the above, I think you can see that I gained a lot from my time at Readify, what would your career look like there? It would be hard to find a better consultancy to work for. If you’re interested, consider joining.

What’s Next?

At this stage, I have no firms plans, but I’m actively looking in the market. My rough checklist of what I’m looking for consists of:

  • Consulting is great, but I’m looking to take a break from it. Therefore, I’d be leaning towards working with / for a product organisation.
  • A strong agile culture is a must. I’m happy to work with an organisation part-way on that journey, as long as there is a definitive desire to change.
  • I’m not really looking to work for a large enterprise organisation.
  • Senior management or executive. Whilst I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves and write some code (I quite enjoy it!), I’d prefer to play to my strengths and work at that level.

Also, whilst my technical background may be primarily focused on the Microsoft technology stack, I’m open to working with organisations who utilise other technology stacks, without trying to convert them unless there is a very good reason.

If you think there’s some value in having a bit of a chat over coffee, and seeing how I might fit into your organisation, then please feel free to send me a message so that we can line something up.

Good for you SK.  I hope you find what you're looking for ;-)

What? 😲 Really! Sad to see you go, Stephen. Wish you all the best for your future endeavors. It was wonderful working with you. Appreciate your professionalism and leadership style. I hope to keep in touch! Kudos.
