The Monkey Appetite
When I was at university, one of my professors told me that I have a “Monkey Appetite” after reviewing my resume. I was a bit offended at first, until she explained that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Later in my career I started using this Turkish idiom to describe my ‘weaknesses’ during interviews. Apparently, I was this person who by description “gets bored quite easily, drops what they have been doing and starts something new”.
Today, I can tell you what it really means to have a monkey appetite! It means that you are in constant search of new experiences, learnings and skills that challenge your mind blocks while continuously building on what you have acquired so far.
Professionally, I have picked up numerous skills and experiences from my short career journey. Rarely do I get stuck on a problem, because my appetite intrigues me to explore solutions first, dwell on the problem later.
Personally, I think life is too short and exciting to be captives in our own limitations! I won't deny that like everything in life, this personality trait also has its burdens, but I’m thankful for all the ups and downs that come with it 😊
What are your thoughts? do you also have a monkey appetite!
Its nice to see that you are writing .. You have a bright future ahead of you!
Yes! It’s always more fun when you feed your curiosity and learn new things, not only career wise but personally too! That was a good read, thank you for sharing Reem.
Yes, sometimes I want the Monkey to sleep for a while. I love that you are writing. Well done!
