Matlab Video Tutorial Series for Beginners

Matlab is one of the most popular languages for researchers and students alike across several discipline of Engineering.  It's easy scripting language with huge number of toolboxes provide just the best in the business algorithm development platform.

I have now been using Matlab for over a decade now. I have worked in simulations, algorithm development and prototyping in Communication system, networking and image processing.

I have had the opportunity to interact with students of various branches over past several years. I have not found many students who are comfortable with Matlab. Matlab has a great community and a lot of codes and modules are available online. But in research, you rarely have the leisure to use a code "as is", because you are often looking out for new techniques, algorithms and methodologies. I believe that if you posses a sound knowledge of the basics of Matlab and know how to integrate various modules and how to interpret Matrix and data, you often find it simple.

As often is the case, I have found that my students lacked the skills in Matlab ( well, many if not all). One of the reasons is that Engineering course work focus a lot on "Theoretical" aspects of  subjects rather than correlating them with actual use.

For instance, FFT is one of the foundations of modern signal processing. Students learn FFT theory, it's formula but can rarely use that knowledge in understanding true signal behaviour. So, I have always tried to explain Matlabn in as simple ways as possible with simple problems so that any student can understand the concepts with little effort.

I have therefore decided to upload some of my Matlab basic videos, so that those of you looking to learn Matlab in simple ways can do it easily.

As, most of my classes are "on the fly", you actually get a chance to code along with the video.  In many cases, I have explained the theory with diagrams. So you can refer them and can get started with learning Matlab.

I have divided the tutorial into three parts

Matlab basics for beginners

         1. Matlab for beginners Part 1

         2. Matlab Basics Part 2

 Matlab 1-D Signal Processing

          3. Understanding FFT With Matlab

          4. Getting Started with Communication System: BPSK

           5. Simple Numeric Speech Recognition With ANN and KNN

Matlab Image Processing

         6.  Image Processing in Matlab Part 1

         7. Image Processing in Matlab Part2

         8. Image Processing in Matlab Part3: Noise and Filtering

         9. Design of a Basic Face Recognition System With Matlab

I hope, you find them useful. Happy learning .

It's very useful. Thanks a lot.
