Six reasons why seascapes are the natural choice for interiors.

1. Associations with nature and freedom

  • The sea represents openness, vastness, and escape from daily stress.
  • Wide horizons and endless water evoke a sense of freedom and expansiveness

3. Gentle movement and rhythm

  • Even in still images, waves suggest soothing, repetitive motion.

4. Connection to biophilia

  • Humans have an innate attraction to water (“blue space”), which has been shown in studies to reduce anxiety and improve mental well-being.
  • Images of the sea can trigger this same restorative effect, even without being physically present.
