Mailmerge with Gmail using open source
The need: Using corporate Gmail, send a short email to 1533 recipients listed in a CSV file.
Logically, one would first Google "gmail mail merge" and discover that Gmail add-ons need to be installed. However, most corporate domains don't permit add-ons, the end-user cannot install an add-on.
Enter the power of open source.
Using Thunderbird as Gmail client, the power now rests with the end user to install add-ons. A simple search reveals a Thunderbird mail-merge add-on. The add-on is free and licensed for use. The instructions are rather simple.
I created a CSV file in a spreadsheet, saved as plaintext and happily 1533 emails are being sent....
