Machine Learning & Human Mind

Machine Learning & Human Mind

Now-a-days, artificial intelligence (AI) is the buzz word which we come across daily. AI is everywhere and we use it daily, knowingly or unknowingly. One of the most popular application of AI is machine learning (ML). Let’s see what ML is and what we can learn from it.

ML is an application of AI that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experiences. ML focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it to learn for themselves.

Below are some of the popular activities that are driven by ML which most of us were not aware of:

1.      In case of emails, we get few emails in our inbox and few goes to the Spam. The machine learning here is doing the job.

2.      Google assistant, Alexa and Siri are some of the virtual personal assistant which assist us in finding any information when asked.

3.      Traffic predictions which the GPS services are providing us and online cab bookings.

4.      Social media - You must have experienced that whenever you search something online, then later on you get the same thing on your Facebook or Instagram page. Friend suggestion list which we get comes through ML.

The machine learning is very powerful and continuously doing its job at the backend and making our lives easier. The machine learning is inspired by human mind but unfortunately most of us are not using it for the benefit of ourselves. If our brain is AI, then our mind is ML (this is just for comparison purpose, however our brain is way more powerful than AI).

The way machine learning is working, we need to make our mind work in the similar way. What can be done?

1.      The way mails goes into spam, we need to program our mind so that any information which is negative or spam does not go in our inbox.

2.      Our mind is the best assistant which listens to us and does everything we want. It is your Genie.

3.      When in doubt speak to your mind, it will give you the correct solution without any prediction.

4.      Don’t look for options outside, look inside. When you search inside, you will get the best things in all the pages of your life.

How this can be done? The way we trust machine learning in our life, we need to trust our mind as well. As the definition states, it learns automatically and improve from experiences, similarly, we can develop our mind through on going practice and by using our experiences.

The examples given here are few, but applications are many and it cannot be taught, it can only be learned by practicing and experiences.
