Low Code: is what the world really needs.

Low Code: is what the world really needs.

"Ikigai" is a famous book which talks about a purpose-driven life, It says that purpose is what defines a person. The 4 pillars of purpose are: what you love doing; what you are good at;  what you get paid for; what the world needs.

Though we have heard a lot about the first 3, "What the world really needs" is the one that is ignored by us a lot.

Understanding what the world really wants is very important, everyone can define this term through their own perspective. For example, according to an Economist, the world really needs a stable inflation rate; an environmentalist would say that the world really needs zero-carbon emission, and an IT enthusiast like me would say that the world really needs an efficient IT development platform.

LOW-CODE is a development platform that is helping Information Technology achieve what the world really needs.

According to IBM, is "When you can visually create new business applications with minimal hand-coding — when your developers can do more of greater value, faster — that’s low code."

Low-Code provides a development environment that is used to create application software through graphical user interfaces and configuration instead of traditional hand-coded computer programming. These tools allow users with no formal knowledge of coding or software development to create applications. Increased business demand for software solutions and a shortage of skilled developers has created a demand for the adoption of low-code development platforms.

Gartner predicts that low code application building would gather more than 65% of all app development functions by the year 2024 and with about 66% of big companies using a minimum of four low code platforms. A market study by Forrester expects the market for low-code development platforms to increase to $21.2 billion by 2022, up from $3.8 billion in 2017.

Coming from a non-IT background I never thought that I will create my own application ever, But by taking the course on Low-code which is designed for the first time ever in the United States by The University of Texas at Dallas BUAN 6V99, now I not only know about the back-end of the Cloud storage for the application but also about Graphical User Interface and the Website Development. The best part about this course is that I got a chance to design a Low-Code automation site on the APPIAN platform, 80% of the class is about working hands-on and Building and Testing our own application.

In this era of rapid change especially in the IT sector, it seems low-code application development platforms will continue to rise with providing fast, creative, and efficient visual environments in the cloud for companies and non-programmers like me.
