Linux... Stupid Linux
Linux has always been the darling of System Admins, DevOps Engineers, and most of the techies out there, and just like your real-life sweetheart, who keeps doing stupid things to make sure that she's always at the center of your attention, Linux also provides you with several hilarious and silly commands, so that you do not get bored while working.
In this article, I will talk about a few of these funny commands. So let's buckle up and embark on an exciting trip to the world of Linux.
1. The xeyes command - shhh... somebody is watching!
The xeyes command allows the user to draw a pair of unblinking eyes, which follows your mouse cursor constantly. Try it out for yourself!
2. The oneko command - Did you mean Tom & Jerry show?
oneko is one of the funniest commands. As soon as you execute this command, you will see a cute little cat running all over the terminal chasing your mouse cursor. Oh! did I say that your mouse cursor has literally been converted into a tiny mouse already when you executed the command? Don't believe me? give it a try then.
3. The sl command - Train on Terminal!
The sl command allows you to run a train on your terminal. Isn't it cool? but wait you can also make your train fly by combining the command with option -F. So what are you waiting for? type sl -F and hit enter, give your train wings!

4. The asciiquarium command - something FISHy is going on
Fed up with that black screen with white characters? Want to see something which is vibrant and colorful? use the asciiquarium command and convert that boring terminal into an aquarium. Oh No! did you just see a shark?
5. fortune | xcowsay - The cow you need
Want a wise pet? Here is the solution ... type fortune | xcowsay in your Linux terminal and hit enter... ta-da! your pet cow is here and she wants to say you something very important.
Apart from the ones, we just became familiar with, there are so many other commands like toilet, rig, yes, aafire, etc., which are as hilarious and apparently nonsense as the above ones.
In case the commands are not pre-installed in your Linux machine, you can always install them using any one of the following commands.
sudo apt install <package-name>
sudo yum install <package-name>
sudo zypper install <package-name>
So give it a try. Take some time off from your busy schedule, execute the commands, and indulge in some stupidity 😃
