LinkedIn Dark Patterns

LinkedIn Dark Patterns

"Dark patterns: A dark pattern is a user interface that has been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things" -Wikipedia

LinkedIn , Why do you participate in such dark patterns?

LinkedIn currently tricks users by falsely representing an exorbitant amount of notifications, and leveraging human nature and the fear of missing out (FOMO) to get users to sign into their site. (Example below shows 40 false notifications and 5 real notifications.)

I wish that was the only dark pattern example. Salary insights used to be a service LinkedIn supplied for its users. It is actively marketed (even today Nov 14, 2024), but yet is non-existent. LinkedIn tricks people by telling them they can see salary comparisons by installing their application. But no matter how hard I click that link after the app is installed, "Salary Insights" is nowhere to be found.

On the desktop, searching for LinkedIn Salary Insights pulls up this link http://linkedin.com/salary which redirects to this page: https://www.garudax.id/help/linkedin/answer/a1347458. This page reads, "Sorry, we can’t find that page." (The page should give a 404 http response code too, which it does not, but is a separate issue)

Please LinkedIn , don't participate in such shenanigans and clean up these dark patterns.
