Life lessons from a python sighting
Some background…as long as I can remember, I've had ophidiophobia( fear of snakes). I eventually overcame that fear( that's a story for another time) but never had a chance to test my cure against a real snake. Got an oppurtunity to test it and also learnt a few life lessons
I had gone for a walk yesterday with my husband. Weather was nice, bright and sunny. Appreciating the beauty around, the butterflies and flowers and chitchatting with my husband ....as I was walking ...my attention drew to a particular design on the sides of the road where there were plants .
As I saw the design ..i couldn't recollect where I have seen that design...so my eyes followed the design and my mind trying to recall. And finally reached the end of the design and then I understood that the design was of a reticulated python lying there.
Fraction of a second... So many things happened.... I was…. oh my .....it's a snake and I am just 1 feet away from it ... I screamed . I called out to my husband and there was a passerby who also saw that and said oh dear...be careful...and walked away.
I went a few steps ahead...and went back to the place again where I saw the python lying . Because as I was walking I felt that I am not going to encounter snakes every day so now that I have a chance let me face it...and hence went back to have a good look at it.
Lessons for me from that sight of the snake.
1. Facing your fear:
Fear of anything is only until you actually face it. Once you confront it....you feel a pride of achievement.
Of course it is common sense to understand the cause of fear and take wise decisions.

2. Fight and flight mode. .
That few seconds of me realising that it is a snake....had set me up in a fight or flight mode though for a few seconds.... But the after effect of it was I felt so exhausted through the day and felt better only when I gave myself a good rest with some reiki healing and a good sleep.
Why it is important to take a pause and respect our mind and body
Our lives are permanently set in a fight or flight mode.... Though it is healthy to have it only for survival .
We have forgotten to take that break , rest ourselves.... Tell our mind and body that it is ok to be in a rest mode .
Our mind and body does need few pauses in a day. It is not too much to give those for our own good. Few other ways we can take that pause is through meditation, listening to music, mindful activity...
These techniques helps us to relax and to be refreshed and to have clarity when we get back to our routine jobs.
