Lessons Learned Interviewing

Ian and I have had the honor of interviewing some incredibly talented and hard-working people on our podcast so far. We are just getting started, but I feel like I've learned so much from everyone with which we have spoken.

Caleb Jones reminded me of what it was like to get started in our industry and what it felt like to be fully engaged in IT.

Kyle St Jean taught me how to get started in development and what to look for in a boot camp. He has an awesome story for anyone looking to make a career change!

Richard Drosin inspired me to make my resume better and buck all of the same copy/pasted advice you find on the Internet around resume writing by providing us proven methods that he gives his clients--all for free.

Vanessa Sekati taught me about how Information Security was developing in other parts of the world and how things were also similar. She is fighting the good fight in South Africa!

Eddie Thomason is funny, charming, and inspirational. He recharges all those he is around. It was so refreshing to talk to him. He inspired me to go out there and leave a legacy and break curses!

Wilson Bautista is doing great things to help people transition from the military into the Information Security space. He taught me that helping others is the most rewarding part of anything we do on the podcast.

There are a few upcoming interviews that we have recorded, but that have not aired yet. This will give you a taste of what is to come!

Jose Olaya is a close friend and someone I consider a mentor in Information Security. He is highly knowledgeable and taught us a lot about 5G and the Chinese companies that operate in that space. Plus, he is from right here in Baton Rouge at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana!

Gerald Auger is a busy guy, but he still finds time to teach others about Information Security on YouTube, have a family, and still run his own business. Plus, he's been to the South Pole! He taught me you can do whatever you put your mind towards.

Gavin Dove is a resilient individual--you have to be to run a startup. He is the co-founder of fluent, but also many other startups in his career. He taught us the struggle of starting something and how to see it through like your life depends on it.

Our next interview will be with Jack Rhysider. I can't wait to learn from him, as well. He is the engaging host of the highly successful Darknet Diaries podcast. Give it a listen and subscribe, if you haven't already. Thank you, Lance Freeman for the recommendation a while back and Gerald for even mentioning having him on the show. Lance was even featured on Episode 1 of the show!

Thank you to everyone who has agreed to come on the show so far. I look forward to talking to many more amazing people in the future. You can learn something from anyone if you're willing to listen.
