Learning at Work Week
At IT Naturally, we believe very strongly in lifelong learning in all shapes and sizes. We create learning pathways for each member of the team and suggest on the job training, mentoring and more formal online courses. Everyone is encouraged to book time in their calendars for training.
Mentoring is very important to us with people actively sharing their experience with others. Within our team we have experts with years of experience who can share their knowledge with others. We find that mentoring is a two-way street that benefits both parties. It can also have a positive effect on the company, raising the quality of work, creates a positive environment and increases productivity.
IT Naturally is also now running an apprenticeship for one of our team members who was looking to upskill. The role will be supported by one of our technical engineers, so the apprentice can learn on the job and put their skills in to practice. We saw it as a great opportunity for both members of the team and for the business, a real win-win.
We use LinkedIn Learning, this social media channels online learning platform that has more than 16,000 courses taught by real-world experts and a library that is constantly updated. Members of our team have completed courses on IT Service desk, Microsoft Teams and Cybersecurity as well as managing virtual teams, excel tips and recruitment processes, the possibilities do seem endless.
Throughout our lives we are always learning, we learn initially from our parents and then our teachers, and everything around us. When we finish our formal education and go into the world of work we should continue to learn and grow.
During Learning at Work Week if you don’t already offer your employees some form of training or online working, I’d really recommend it as it has a positive outcome for them and your business.
Julie, thanks.
