LEADERSHIP - Command and Control

Its interesting in this day and age with a paradigm shift in the way we work, that some organizations still choose to work on a command and control structure. This implies a very few people making decisions whilst the workforce just does what they told.

So I asked 2 questions:

  1. How would you disrupt yourself in this mode and how would you get your people to expand their thinking. I was told we have the best thinkers making decisions.
  2. So how would your people buy into this idea. I was told they don't make decisions as they implement what they are told to do.

 I was totally taken aback and finally came to a conclusion:

  1. This organization is in serious denial.
  2. The decision makers will blame the implementers
  3. Innovation is disingenuous in the eyes of the implementers and is absolutely in the eyes of the decision makers.
  4. No one sees the elephant in the room
  5. The result would be an organization that will be disrupted fairly quickly.

We believe in oneness and collaboration as these tools help you understand people in order to deliver the best for the organization. You only thrive when ideas are debated and accepted by all to expand thinking beyond the norm.
